NMN Regulatory Notice — United Kingdom & European Union

Last reviewed: 10 April 2026 · Medically reviewed by Dr. Larry Tafford, MD (GP)

Summary: Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) is legal to sell and purchase in the United Kingdom. It is currently classified by the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) as a novel food under assessment. It has not yet received formal novel food authorisation in the UK or the EU. An EFSA public consultation (PC-1537) on β-NMN as a novel food opened in July 2025. We monitor FSA and EFSA guidance and update this page whenever the status changes.

  • NMN has not yet received formal novel food authorisation in the UK or the EU.

What this means for you as a customer

  • You can legally buy Human Nutrients NMN + Resveratrol in the UK today.
  • Human Nutrients does not make therapeutic or medicinal claims about NMN.
  • NMN is sold as a dietary supplement, not a medicine.
  • We monitor FSA and EFSA guidance and will update labelling, marketing and this page promptly if the regulatory position changes.

What we do not claim

Under UK and EU food supplement law, NMN does not currently hold any authorised health claims. Human Nutrients therefore does not — and will not — state or imply that NMN prevents, treats or cures any disease or medical condition. We do not suggest that NMN is a substitute for prescribed medication or clinical care. Our NMN content is educational and describes published research, not therapeutic guidance.

Quality & safety standards we apply

Although NMN is still under novel-food review, Human Nutrients applies the same supply-chain and quality standards to NMN that we use across our entire range:

  • Raw material ≥99% purity, verified by HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography).
  • Third-party testing for heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) by an ISO 17025-accredited UK laboratory.
  • Microbiological contamination screening.
  • Manufactured in a GMP-certified facility.
  • Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) available on request to hello@humannutrients.com.

Who to contact

If you have a regulatory or safety question about NMN or any Human Nutrients product, email hello@humannutrients.com. If you are experiencing an adverse effect from a supplement, stop taking it and consult your GP. In the UK, suspected adverse reactions to supplements can also be reported to the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
